weekday wardrobe: new castmember

I've been sitting in front of the computer screen for a while trying to come up with a witty way to announce the news (kind of like this), but the excitement is getting in the way of my creativity, so I'll just put it like this: there's a new and permanent member of the supporting cast on my left hand...

weekday wardrobe: black and slate blue (with a side of crazy)

Yes, I live in Texas. Yes, we experience summers with record-breaking, triple-digit heat. And yes, I wore a faux leather peplum top in the middle of August, despite the aforementioned heat. (I told you this outfit came with a side of crazy.) But surprisingly, it wasn't bad. Maybe because it's sleeveless. Bottom line is, I saw, I bought, I wore. I had been eyeing this for a bit and finally bought during a 25% off sale (and the final cost could still be considered a "splurge" for me). I love it and I plan to layer it and wear it during the cooler months. Oh, who am I kidding? The only cold month we have is January--but trust me, this will definitely get worn. A lot.

weekday wardrobe: dimiloc and polka dots

Things always start getting a little hectic for me around this time of year and this past week was no exception, so when the weekend rolled around, I was more than happy to kick back and have fun. My best friend came to visit for some much-needed 'girl time' on Saturday and I spent Sunday afternoon with my family, so even though it's Monday, I don't have any reason to complain. If you remember the last time I wore this skirt, I don't have to tell you how much I love it. When I bought it, I didn't even take The Rule of Three into consideration--I mean, I knew I would eventually pair it with at least three things in my closet, but at the time, I didn't know what those three things were. I played it safe the first time I wore it with a simple black tee, but this time, I traded in the solid for a print, in the form of polka dots. Initially, I never would have thought to put these two together, but I really like the way it turned out.
