[SKIRT: Dimiloc; TEE: Walmart; SHOES: Urbanog; CLUTCH: Windsor; RING, BRACELET, and NECKLACE: Forever 21]

Last November, I had the pleasure of attending the Designers Choice Fashion Preview after winning tickets to the show in a local contest. I oohed and ahhed over many of the designs, but when one of the models strutted down the runway in a skirt by Candace Locke, I was in awe. Candace’s line, Dimiloc, featured several gorgeous pieces, but it was this skirt that turned me into a crazed lunatic and the following day, the obsessive cyberstalking began. I searched for her website (and found it). I hunted her down on Twitter (and followed her). I even visited her Etsy shop every few days to see if the skirt was available for purchase. My maniacal manhunt finally paid off when Candace tweeted a picture of the skirt and a link to her Etsy shop where the skirt could be purchased. I waited until after my pregnancy to order it and was so ecstatic when I received it in the mail that I headed to the roof of the highest skyscraper in Dallas, proudly held the skirt up Simba-style for all the world to see, and proceeded to yell (in my Gollum voice), “My precious!” Well, that’s what I did in my head. In reality, I did a little jig in the middle of the living room, twirled around like Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, and belted out Etta James’ At Last at the top of my lungs. Apparently, Jordan thought it was a competition because she woke up and began to scream at the top of her lungs—and the kid’s got some lungs. I’m pretty sure I don’t have to tell you who won that screaming match. (Hint: It wasn’t me.)
[word of advice: While I’m all about pattern-mixing, sometimes less is more. Pair a printed skirt with a solid top for a look that’s fashionable without being extreme.]
