weekday wardrobe: we be bumpin'

Whew! The cat is finally out of the bag, and I couldn’t be more relieved. First, let me thank you all for your congratulations and well wishes. I have been DYING to tell you guys for weeks, especially because updates were becoming so rare--I didn’t want you guys to think I wasn’t interested in blogging anymore. I struggled with fatigue and morning sickness (mainly because for me, it was 24-hour sickness), so I’ve pretty much been confined to the couch for the last two-and-a-half months. Every time I thought the nausea was subsiding, it would come back with a vengeance, so I was in pretty bad shape for my birthday…and Micah’s birthday…and The Boyfriend’s birthday. I’ve finally turned the corner, though (knock on wood) and I’m excited about getting back to words & wardrobes.

So let’s talk details: I’ve just entered the second trimester—I’m 14 weeks along, to be exact. I’m going to admit that trying to convert weeks into months confuses the hell out of me, but I think 14 weeks equates to 3-and-a-half months (or maybe I’m entering my fourth month. See?! I have absolutely no clue about weeks-to-months conversions!) The baby is due at the beginning of April and we’re scheduled to find out in early November if this belly is Team Testosterone or Team Estrogen (The Boyfriend is thinking ‘snips and snails’ but my instincts, aforementioned debilitating nausea, and the unsightly acne that has suddenly taken up residence on my face are SCREAMING ‘sugar and spice’).

I’m telling you, people, it’s excitement all around these parts. From The Boyfriend to the soon-to-be grandparents and siblings to the proud mama typing these words, April can’t come fast enough. I’m so glad to finally be able to let you guys in on this exciting chapter of my life, but rest assured, I won’t be bore you with too much baby talk…or at least I’ll try really hard not to. I mean, have you seen how cute some of those onesies are?!

  18. Very cute ensemble (as always) and I want to say congratulations on becoming a mommy again (next spring?). I’m sure he or she is going to be the most stylish baby in town! I anxiously anticipate seeing the maternity fashion trends you are going to display over the next few months. I am a faithful follower of your blog and commend you on the great job you are doing. I have never commented before but felt the need to do so after I read the ugly and unjust comment left by ‘anonymous’ yesterday. I think every person is entitled to their own opinion; however, the sarcastic compliments of ‘congrats’ and ‘cute dress’ were most unnecessary as well as saying you are “an unmarried mother of two its hardly something to be thrilled about” is both rude and judgmental. Apparently this person was never taught the old saying “if you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all”. He or she obviously does not realize how foolish it is to pass judge or draw conclusions about people whom you know nothing about. Those judgments are called ‘assumptions’ so apparently this person was also never taught another old saying that ‘when you make an assumption, you really make an ass out of yourself’. These old sayings may be juvenile, but I’m hoping that reiterating these simple sayings may positively penetrate the mind of a person who likes to make foul and simple-minded comments, such as that made by ‘anonymous’ yesterday. Ty, you may be expecting a baby and also are an unmarried young woman; however, that provides no basis for anyone to pass judgment on you or say you should not be happy on becoming a mother. On the behalf of the followers who are truly happy for you, please ignore the idiocy of the ‘anonymous’ comment and continue blogging with your head held high.

  19. @Anonymous: One of the amazing things about words & wardrobes is the sense of loyalty and camaraderie readers have with Ty--her transparency is admirable and it's ironic that you to sit so high in judgment under the veil of anonymity. While your cowardly comment is a blur among the well wishes, compliments and positive remarks, I just wanted to stop by and serve notice that we won't stand for you trying to bring Ty down during such a momentous and exciting chapter of her life. So keep hiding behind your screen timidly offering criticism, and we'll continue to giddily anticipate more thrilling updates, chic outfits and sparkling prose--the trademarks that have made this site what it is today.

  20. I agree with Swirlgirl and mtjstyle...I love the words and wardrobes blog and am totally happy for you. A big CONGRATULATIONS are in order! Comments and negativity (particularly in the form of the hurtful and judgemental comment written by anonymous yesterday) may surface but you must ignore them and continue doing what you do best which is DOING YOU!
