LOOK #1. For the first look, I paired the skirt with a graphic, puff-sleeved blouse. Navy blue goes beautifully with mustard—in particular, this blouse is a perfect match for this skirt because of its mustard, kelly green, white, and turquoise detailing. I accessorized with a kelly green belt, gold handbag and accessories, and cheetah-print shoes (you didn’t really think I would pass up the opportunity to mix prints, did you?).

LOOK #2. For this look, I swapped out one graphic blouse for another with this multi-color top. Mustard and bright pink can be a contemporary pairing (as seen here), and the color of the skirt brings out the swatches of mustard in the blouse. I accessorized with a lot of black—shoes, belt, handbag—and kept the jewelry at a minimum.

LOOK #3. The final look involves a top that has already been featured in one ‘triple play’ post (seen here), and I’m still a bit amazed at its versatility. Gingham is slowly becoming my go-to pattern, so I paired it with the skirt and pulled it together with a camel-colored belt. And because navy blue isn’t the only blue that plays well with mustard, I added a pair of cobalt blue pumps for a pop of color and mixed prints again by accessorizing with a leopard-print clutch.

[ABOUT THIS FEATURE: Being the cost-conscious shopper that I am, versatility and cost-per-wear are two things that weigh heavily on my decision to buy an item (or not), so I’m a firm believer in the ‘Rule of Three’: When you buy something new, you should have at least THREE things in your closet that you can wear with that piece. Each Thursday, this feature will highlight three ways I’ve styled one item.]
