fashionrules! robert rodriguez fashion show

“Oh, I want that!”

“That. Is. So. Cute!”

“Ooh, I like that!”

I don’t think I’ve ever used those three phrases as much as I did last night when I viewed Robert Rodriguez’s latest collection at Neiman Marcus.* The collection featured a balanced mix of neutrals, metallics, and brights (including bright orange, and you know how much I love bright orange right now). From maxi dresses to mini skirts, there was no shortage of the feminine sophistication that Robert Rodriguez is known for. I couldn’t get enough of the asymmetrical hems, thigh-high slits, deep v-necks, and fringe, and I must confess that I had to exercise an insane amount of self-restraint to keep from ripping the gorgeous accessories off the models as they strutted down the runway. Bold gold necklaces, skinny rope belts, sky-high stilettos. Sigh. I was in heaven. (It didn’t hurt that there was a steady supply of Perrier sparkling water, Prosecco champagne and Paciugo’s Italian ice.) What I liked most about the collection was that the pieces covered pretty much any occasion you could think of—flirty frocks for date night, playful jumpsuits for weekend lunch with the girls, sexy dresses for Saturday night. Robert Rodriguez. The man is a genius. If only I had gotten the chance to shake his hand and tell him how much I loved his designs. Wait, I did get to do that! Someone pinch me. On second thought, don’t. I’m in heaven. Or maybe I’m dreaming. Either way, I’m still high from the excitement of last night’s show and I probably won’t be coming down for a day or two. Sigh.

*The quality of the above photos doesn't do the pieces any justice, but if you disregard the bluriness and overlook the lighting issues, you can see that designs are stunning!
