fashion and philanthropy: attitudes & attire luncheon and fashion show

A while back I mentioned that I volunteer for a local nonprofit organization called Attitudes & Attire that provides low-income women with the professional clothing and necessary tools to succeed in the workplace. Yesterday, for the first time since I’ve been volunteering at Attitudes & Attire, I was able to attend their annual Luncheon and Fashion Show. Initially the event was scheduled for February 2, but it was snowing so it was rescheduled for February 4, but the weather was still cold and icy. The event was rescheduled again for yesterday and I’m so glad I was able to attend because it was a beautiful event. The fashion show, which included runway music like Jay-Z’s New York State of Mind, Rihanna’s Only Girl in the World, and Katy Perry’s Firework, featured exclusive designs by Paulette Martsolf, owner of Allie-Coosh. Unfortunately, I was unable to get pictures of the models on the catwalk (which I desperately wanted, so you guys could see the Allie-Coosh collection), but I did manage a few snapshots.

As far as what I wore to the event, I will say that I’m glad I hadn’t completely swapped out my winter clothes for my spring clothes just yet because the temperatures were in the 30s this morning (it was in the 70s the day before and is supposed be in the 70s today too). I ended up wearing an outfit that I wore a few weeks ago, but didn’t get a chance to photograph: my Marc Jacobs skirt with a black turtleneck and black tights. I didn’t get to take any pictures before the event so I shot these yesterday afternoon.
