daily duds: fossilized (featuring the usual suspects)
Eighty degrees. Eight zero. That’s how hot it was today.* I really wanted to take advantage of the warm weather and wear something completely non-winterish, but when I got dressed, I realized I was in the mood to just put on some jeans. So I did. I wore the Fossil jeans I picked up at Goodwill earlier this week. Yes, people, I’ve finally found a pair of flattering jeans (because as you know, I have plenty of unflattering jeans). Awesome. I can already tell I'm going to wear these a lot. A whole lot. Since it’s Day Two of Micah’s Christmas break and we had a ton of errands to run, I threw on the same thing I always throw on when I’m too lazy to actually make an effort: my short-sleeved faux leather jacket. I added my black quilted handbag and pair of pumps and off we went—breakfast at IHOP and trips to the thrift (I left empty-handed), Walmart, and the mall. So now I just want to rest. My feet are killing me and I need a nap. And maybe a cookie.

*Even though it was hot as hell outside, Micah insisted on wearing a jacket for about an hour. I’ve learned to pick my battles. As long as he wasn’t suffering from heat stroke, I was fine with it.

wardrobe wtf: my major fashion fails
In a perfect fashion blogging world, every outfit would fit flawlessly, every sentence would be unbelievably witty, and every picture would turn out impeccably. Unfortunately, I’m about as far from that perfect fashion blogging world as you can get, and in my reality, I take a ton of pictures that never make it to the blog—until now. (Actually, now that I think about it, I've posted a few "questionable" outfits.) I’ve revisited some of the hideous pictures that I never uploaded, mainly due to dreadfully ill-fitting ensembles—pants that made me look like a refrigerator, blouses that made me look like a linebacker, and outfits that were just plain…unsightly. For every outfit post that makes it to my blog, there’s one that makes it to the Hot Mess Hall of Fame. So without further ado, I present to you some of my fashion fails of 2010:
BLUE AND ORANGE AND A MESS ALL OVER. There's a reason why I like my pants long. This picture is that reason. I've worn these pants before, but in this picture, they look so big and...bulky. I picked up the shirt during one of my thrift hauls. In theory, I thought it was cute. In reality, not so much. And what the hell is in my pocket?!

UNFIT UNMENTIONABLES. I was trying the whole print-mixing thing again. I actually don't think the outfit is that bad. But the fact that the girls are headed south is. I should have hit up Victoria's Secret before wearing this top. And maybe worn a different pair of shoes.
So tell me: What are your fashion fails?

THEORETICALLY SPEAKING. I actually wore this outfit earlier this week. In my head, it was cute. I had my doubts when I put it on and looked in the mirror, and when I saw the pictures, I promptly went home and changed. I think it would have looked better if the dress was a tad bit longer and didn't have the panel on the front.
SPONGEBOB'S LONG-LOST SISTER. I really wish I looked tall and lean in jeans, but most of time I look like this. Sigh. It's a shame because I love jeans. I just hate shopping for them.
FLAT-OUT UNFLATTERING. I take pride in knowing what works for me, but sometimes I miss the mark. This was one of those times. All I could think was, "No. Just...no."
So tell me: What are your fashion fails?

wardrobe replica: lauren conrad
This was a busy week for me; it involved a job interview (but not for the job I mentioned in this post), Micah’s Christmas program at school (one word: adorable!), and volunteering at Attitudes & Attire (for the last time this year). Of course, I also managed a trip to Goodwill, where I picked up a pair of Fossil jeans for 6 bucks. I’m a bit tired (I swear the bags under my eyes could probably hold a month’s worth of groceries) and since it’s Friday, I replicated a simple and casual look that Lauren Conrad wore a while back.

This look consisted of dark denim skinny jeans, a light blue button down and cobalt pumps (I am in love with cobalt right now!). I don’t own a quilted black Chanel bag like Lauren, but I figured my quilted black Express bag was just as good (for me, at least). I accessorized a pair of blue earrings and a cobalt ring, but didn’t bother with sunglasses since it’s a bit cloudy—and cold—in Dallas today.

In other news, if you follow me on Twitter (or just look to the left), you know that I’ve reached 100 followers. To celebrate--and to thank everyone who reads my random ramblings—I’m going to have a giveaway soon, so stay tuned…

daily duds: the cat's meow
It's official: I'm lusting for leopard print the same way that I've been obsessing over olive green. Leopard and cheetah prints have been recurring themes in my wardrobes--it's so easy to add an animal print to up the fun factor of an outfit. I had been on the hunt for a leopard print cardigan for a while and I finally found one to add to my cat-print collection.

daily duds: one, two, three, fur
Mondays rarely go as planned for me. I had planned on wearing red and leopard today, but Micah fell and hit his mouth on Saturday, knocking his remaining front tooth loose in the process. The bloodshed from that accident was enough red to last me until…maybe later this week. I had a contingency plan, though, and it involved fur, leopard print, and some dark denim.

getting carded
So I'm slowly but surely getting back into the groove of things, as evidenced by a trip to the thrift yesterday afternoon. Fortunately for me, 40-degree weather isn't the only thing I came home to when I returned home Monday night. I was pleased to see that my MOO MiniCards had been delivered a few days ahead of schedule and were waiting for me in my mailbox (under a pile of junk mail). I am very impressed with the quality of the MiniCards--the colors are bright and the paper is unbelievably sturdy, which you really can't tell from the pictures below (damn my camera and its crappy zoom function). On the opposite side of the MiniCard, I included my name, site URL, and e-mail address. I also bought one of the MiniCard holders that came with a key chain ring so that I can have a few MiniCards on me at all times.
