single-piece sensation

Whether you love it or loathe it, the controversial piece of clothing known as the romper (or jumper or playsuit) is a current craze that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. While some think this multi-monikered merge of shorts and shirt is reserved for the playground posse, others are confident that rompers can successfully be rocked by women who can legally order a cocktail.

Prior to today, the last time I wore a romper was when I could count my age on one hand. Then I saw this yellow and black one-piece wonder and couldn’t care less that I now needed six hands to count my age.

I think I was drawn to this romper because it doesn’t necessarily resemble a romper; it looks more like a floral blouse coupled with a pair of high-waisted shorts. I also love the element-of-surprise aspect associated with the romper’s cut-out back.

To me, rompers give off a playful vibe, so I paired mine with black wedges. I was surprised at how well my romper fit, and I could only find one downside: it’s a pain to get out of when nature calls. I have to untie the ribbon in the back, undo the buttons at the nape my neck, and unzip the side. Sigh. The things I sacrifice for fashion.

So tell me: What are your thoughts on rompers? Do you think jumpers are juvenile or do playsuits add panache to your wardrobe?

  1. Hey Ty,
I really love your outfit! And you are right: the jumper doesn't look like one but much more sophisticated and elegant!
I've never worn a jumper before but might get on in the sale right now.
You're looking great in every single one of your posts. Keep up the good work :-)
